
Guest Judge – Rick Amor
It is with immense pleasure that Furneaux Community Arts welcomes Rick Amor to judge the Inaugural Islander Portrait Prize.
Rick Amor’s life long career as a professional artist sees him recognised as one of Australia’s most highly respected contemporary artists, represented in major collections including the National Gallery Victoria, the National Portrait Gallery Canberra and the National Gallery of Australia Canberra.
Rick Amor has received many awards for Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking and in 1999, the Australian War Memorial appointed him as war artist to East Timor.
Rick has a long connection with the Bass Strait Islands through friendships with Stephen Murray-Smith, along with fellow painters such as Fred Williams, Clifton Pugh and others, all of whom have produced bodies of work celebrating the beauty of the islands.
